Youre a Hack! OReilly Explodes at George Will for Attacking His No-Facts Zone Book
.... ...Will yesterday took things one step further when he tore into OReillys book and called it a no-facts zone.
Well, responding last night was not enough for OReilly, and he invited Will on today. To start, OReilly said that Will libeled him and claimed Will was supposed to call him before running the column and didnt.
Will said he had no such obligation and snarked that it wouldnt be the first time OReillys gotten something wrong. When OReilly kept on the point, he asked, Do you want to talk about Bill OReilly or Bill OReillys book?
OReilly moved on to Will taking issue with his use of a memo by a Reagan aide. The memo features what Will called slanderous assessments of Reagan that its own author disowned. OReilly said he only did so under heavy pressure and Will literally laughed out loud.
OReilly confronted him on a bunch of statements from people close to Reagan to refute what Will was saying and accused Will of actively misleading people. Will shot back by saying OReillys something of an expert in that field. ....

Things Get Awkward When Maddow Blurts Out Matthews is The Master Interrupter
.... Matthews engages with Maddow on a point she made at the beginning of the event, indicating her intention to not necessarily interrupt the candidates. Maddow shrugs off an apparent compliment, and drops the greatest verbal assault ever launched onto the shores of Matthews:
I probably shouldve interrupted more than I did. Youre the master interrupter.
She immediately tries to swim to safety, but the gathered crowd in Rock Hill, SC immediately revolts in reaction; the audio isnt clear to me if its a series of boos, jeers, guffaws, or outright celebrations, but in any case, the comment resonated with the crowd undoubtedly conscious of the awful Matthews habit.
And on this night, those four little words accomplished what all the masses of cable news punditry had forever thought impossible: shut Chris Matthews up, if even for a moment.
When Chris Matthews interrupts people, you know something important is happening! Maddow offered. She continues to dig out of the situation with a shovel firmly in hand, all the while facing a stone-cold Matthews expression.
Finally Matthews best attempt at redeeming the pervading awkwardness settles with: Can we embrace?.

Here's Tweety attempting to overcome his own O'LOOFAH problem with women (1950s White male) :

(70,700 posts)Like with Tweety, when they are skewering wingnuts, nobody is better.
But Tweety turns like a weathervane. And Jon puzzled me for years, starting with his blowing up the CNN (talk show) "Crossfire". He claimed it was dividing us or something, but at least you knew where they stood.
But finally things cleared up when he responded -- or rather, FOLLOWED SUIT -- to BecKKK's "rally" to fake unify America or whatever it was called, with his own namby-pamby semi-Hippie/Renaissance-festival complete with the Myth Buster geeks. As MAHER said, "If you're going to have an event, it needs to be ABOUT something." Actually, both BecKKK and Jon disappointed their separate fans who expected their own red meat.
Then he played at being pals with O'LOOFAH, like, can't-we-just-get-along. I "get" the principle of skewering falsity from ANY side that commits it, but Third Way crap is crap. Plus, below he uses the I'm-just-a-comedian cop out.
********* from Wiki, "Crossfire" ********
On October 15, 2004, Jon Stewart appeared on the program as an invited guest of co-hosts Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala on the premise of promoting his book America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction. Instead he used his appearance on the show to criticize the format of Crossfire and the style of arguments presented on the show. He said the program failed its responsibility to the public discourse and indulged in partisan hackery, reducing news coverage of important issues to a series of talking points from both extremes of the political spectrum: "It's hurting America. Here is what I wanted to tell you guys: Stop... You have a responsibility to the public discourse, and you fail miserably."[5][6] Carlson countered Stewart's criticisms by reading examples of questions Stewart had asked of then-presidential candidate John Kerry during his recent interview on The Daily Show, such as, "How are you holding up?" and "Have you ever flip-flopped?" Stewart argued that unlike Carlson and Begala he was a comedian, not a journalist, and therefore it was not his role to conduct hard-hitting interviews. Begala defended the show on the basis that it was intended as a forum for debate, to which Stewart responded that calling Crossfire a debate show was "like saying pro wrestling is a show about athletic competition."[7] Arguably the most heated moment of the exchange occurred after Carlson told Stewart, "I do think you're more fun on your show. Just my opinion.", to which Stewart replied, "You know what's interesting, though? You're as big a dick on your show as you are on any show."[8]
Following his appearance, transcripts and live stream footage were released on the Internet and widely watched and discussed. At a time when the average number of viewers of the show was about 615,000, the episode drew 867,000 viewers.[9] Stewart later stated "It really was not my intent to be disruptive. I truly thought we'd have a goof about how terrible the program is at the top, and move on, but... the combination of their obstinance and my low blood sugar led to no bueno."[10]
Cancellation
In January 2005 the new president and CEO of CNN Jonathan Klein, announced the cancellation of Crossfire. Klein also announced that they would not be renewing Carlson's contract. Carlson claimed it was he who had chosen to leave, to take a job at MSNBC.[11] In the news release containing the announcement, Klein indicated that he wanted to change the tone of shows on the network, and in interviews said he sympathized with Jon Stewart's criticisms of Crossfire.[12] Klein claimed he "wanted to move CNN away from what he called 'head-butting debate shows'.
