(51,308 posts)You already made a nasty post about the hosts, and you have bombarded them with ugly PMs.
Why play all innocent now?
trumad
(41,692 posts)And that was because one of the hosts is a mad stalker of mine who locked a thread without consensus.
Not a very good group controlling things.
on edit: and what does that have to do with this current Op of mine?
cwydro
(51,308 posts)and I know that you do know exactly what it's all about.
It's funny how some simply love the drama, the trouble...
Well, there's plenty here now, so enjoy!

(41,692 posts)It's the other stuff that has me a bit dizzy.
BTW: You are not a host---so how do you know I've bombarded them with emails?
cwydro
(51,308 posts)I know all about your emails.
I retired early from hosting because I'm, 1) busy with real life, and, 2) sick to death of all this meta crap.
what ever you say.
ThAnks for resigning.
cwydro
(51,308 posts)Just so you know, I was on your side during that nonsense.
Whoever your mole in the host forum is should be able to tell you that.
Except that I found your PMs to a new host inexcusable.

(14,689 posts)It seems that OP was posted before the information about OS's health was public information.
I don't like threads mocking other members, but I don't think it carried the nefarious intent that you might think.

(41,692 posts)I do not follow OS around... No idea he had dementia.
ok - my mistake.
ScreamingMeemie
(68,918 posts)I have no idea what is wrong with OmahaSteve, outside of people alluding to it, and I am sure there are many, many DUers struggling through terminal illness, great family loss, financial misery who just haven't posted about it. We are active posters or we are not. I give everyone a level deal, whether they are ill or not. They choose to post here.
I don't mean for this to be a thrashing, but one of the reasons I left DU is because of an event which left a few DUers feeling like they couldn't debate/argue/talk smack with me. I have no real issues with Steve, and I do read his labor posts, many of which are invaluable. Every DUer should be treasured, but none should be given special dispensation. Thank you for considering this and realizing the spirit with which it's intended.

I would have to be a raging narcissist to think anyone remembered what I posted, even if I was one if the longtime members here.

I do wish him the best though.

(28,749 posts)OS and I talk via PM sometimes and he's had a pretty rough go of it lately, dementia is a horrible disease and it does horrible things to you mind.
trumad
(41,692 posts)I like OS---don't follow him much---then again I follow very few people.
My thread the other day "Can I be Targeted" wasn't mocking him---it was just poking fun at a 600 plus thread that was whacky as shit.
I certainly hope the best for OS.
Renew Deal
(84,709 posts)With the same exact complaint? Can you tell the difference between mockery and support?
cwydro
(51,308 posts)but this "illness" excuse can only go so far. He had a right to mock that silly thread.
I don't care how long the illness has been posted on DU, not everybody reads those posts. Some people really think everyone here keeps up with them, and that is just not true.
Many on DU are dealing with their own illness, the illness of family members, the loss of friends and family members, but they choose to keep that information private. This particular poster is not the only one dealing with real life issues. I don't see it as an excuse.
If a poster is so ill that he/she cannot control his/her posts, then he/she should at least have some close friends to keep an eye on those posts. Or find another hobby.
DU can get rough, and if a poster takes it so seriously that it causes that poster real pain or angst, well, stop taking it so damn seriously.
Ok I think differently of you now.
cwydro
(51,308 posts)Nor do I know which I would prefer...

(68,918 posts)of being biased against Dean because of a decision I made to lock a thread. After the primaries, I PM'd that person a picture of myself with Howard Dean at one of two events we attended.

(47,953 posts)There wasn't the level of animosity, in my recollection. Now 2008, it did get pretty bad here between the Obama and Clinton camps. But it seems just as bad now.
Gman
(24,780 posts)It was serious rivalry and at times got ugly. But not the naked animosity this year. We all came together in the end. Not sure that will happen this year.
I support Hillary but would be fine with Sanders. I think most Sanders supporters would reluctantly support Hillary, if anything being the much lesser of two evils.
I reluctantly supported Obama in 08. But I believe strongly in the power unity too.

(25,725 posts)But the recent threads must need decoder rings. Really covert and not what I see as amusing or worthwhile.

(6,262 posts)I have been here since very early 2002 and rarely OP, but sometimes comment.
Got kicked out of a primary group after what I thought was a fairly calmly stated opinion that didn't agree with the poster. Harsh. But I lived.
Now things have gone way beyond "harsh" in a year where we need to be and should be united as Dems, tho we may have heartfelt primary preferences.
Still check in a few times a day, but not the same, much more substantive site that I remember all those years ago, when it was my oasis on the net.

(1,451 posts)we had people here back then that were strong Dems. Now they have let folk go the wrong way. When we were in primaries we didn't agree on the candidates. But when it came to helping get the Dem nominee in we banned together and made it happen. Now what??

Waiting For Everyman
(9,385 posts)It's the same ever since DU3 started (before that I didn't notice).
Same bunch with the flame bait outrages every time, it just changes from misogyny to privilege to Hillary-is-great. The "outfit change" doesn't really make any difference. It's always about controlling what other people say and do and think. That's what they think politics is.
Some people won't go along with that. Wonder why. The flamers try to get all those people kicked off, as much as possible. Of course it mostly isn't posssible, and so they stay outraged, mostly over nothing. It's like a hive-mind tantrum. It would be interesting if it wasn't so stupid and pointless.
It's obvious by now this won't change, I just use "Trash Thread" a lot and move on.
