my reasoning for increase in mass shootings

I think that mass shootings have been increasing because of more media exposure. Mass shootings started increasing once there was a 24 hours news cycle, and the modern "yellow journalists" immortalize these shooters in their quest for ratings.

Would-be shooters see what happened yesterday and the 24\7 news coverage, and say "wow, I want that kind of attention"

Maybe if the news would just report what happened, and then move onto something else, then maybe future shooters might say "I won't get any attention, maybe shooting up a school\workplace is not worth it."

to be one of the reasons that is likely. I would also add in the disappearance of the fairness doctrine and the rise of the talk radio hosts such as Rush that tend to generally increase the level of anger among people. There is also 30+ years of the declining middle class and wage stagnation that takes away the economic dream from a great many people in this country.

That said I am sure that there are many, many more that I have not touched upon.

that I am not included in your "gungeoneers" comment.

The availability of guns and guns with high capacity magazines is certainly a factor, but there is never just one answer. This is a complex problem and it requires more than a simple single black & white answer.

a gungeoneer, but I think this goes beyond guns. Not that fewer guns out there would be a bad thing, but I think it is more complex than that at this point.

4. Yeah, I don't think so. I think anyone who thinks they all do it for the "glory" is wrong.

Very wrong. Foolishly wrong. Totally out of their fucking minds wrong.

Do you know what a yellow journalism actually is? Fox news is yellow journalism. The rest may be flawed but by and large they present facts which is not the definition of yellow journalism. I know it is just a buzz word to be thrown around by those who blame media for things but lets try for some accuracy here.

The modern media distorts facts to some extent to fit their agenda. No matter which side of the political spectrum they fall. There is a reason that mass shootings have increased since the start of the 24\7 news cycle.

It's the "fad" of the moment. Used to be if you were going to do a mass shooting you had to come up with the idea yourself. It wasn't on the news every minute. We didn't have video games allowing everybody who wants to to play mass shooter in the comfort of their homes. Politicians weren't screaming at each other and name-calling all over the place. Hate has become so normalized on the Internets and beyond. With the rise of the RW it became more OK to openly throw hate at various ethnic groups and more recently it's OK to throw hate openly at white people.

Mudslinging is everywhere, including this so-called liberal discussion board. Extreme violence is everywhere both for real and for entertainment. Grievance is a national pastime. Entitlement runs amok. People have less and less power in their lives. Gee! Surprise! People are angry, violence is normal.

In the case of holy warrior types, they've been influenced by hate mongering agitators.
