Democrats taxing rich & lowering unemployment in Minnesota has led to $1.9 bil budget surplus

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2015/12/4/1456818/-Democrats-taxing-rich-lowering-unemployment-in-Minnesota-has-lead-to-1-9-bil-budget-surplus

When Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton was elected back in 2010, he had a Republican legislature and a state with billions in deficit. Yesterday, state officials announced that Minnesota’s budget surplus had reached $1.9 billion....

How did they do this? They basically did Democratic Party stuff like lifting taxes on the rich, raised the minimum wage, and passed a state law guaranteeing women equal pay. You know, stuff that Republicans usually say will end in a sky made out of fire with Jesus Christ riding on top of a horse, jousting with the ghost of Vladimir Lenin, while swinging a broad sword made out of fire. Well, at least, in the case of Minnesota, the Democratic Party has been able to prove that using your government for good, to help the majority of people, versus the wealthy minority of businesses can result in both rich and poor doing better. I am sure the Republican Party is willing to concede that....

You suck, Republicans. If what you are saying is true, explain this please....

Strange that reality and what comes out of the Republican Party’s mouths these days is not even remotely closely related.

If only it weren't so doggone cold, I'd be on my way. The Vikings are even pretty good this year!

when the Progressive Adults in the room take leadership seriously and act accordingly. Notice how the Rethugs and their operative Media(Hubbard Nextstar Taylor)are parroting the same crap as Ventura did. Got to give the surplus back to the voters, well we know how that worked out,the Tonka,Highland Park and Edina crowd did okay, and everyone else had to pick up the slack.

their shame in cutting back their vacations from 5 to 4 per year, the foregoing of buying a 5th vacation home to complete collection of the spring one for Paris, the summer one for Alaska, the fall hunting lodge in Quebec, the winter border patrol adobe hacienda in Rio Grande City?

I just finished reading a book about a waiter who worked in the Polo Lounge.
http://www.amazon.com/Waiter-Rich-Shameless-Confessions-Five-Star-ebook/dp/B00QXA0TX4

The book had its flaws, but those aside, the waiter finally quit after ten years because the new management (not sure when they picked up the place) gave themselves an extravagant party after gutting $10/hour employees and $8/hour employees. This put great stress on the remaining employees and negatively affected the 5-star service they were supposed to give. When someone pays $3200 for a glass of scotch or $3800 for a bottle of wine, you shouldn't keep them waiting (it's appalling that people have that kind of money to spend like that in the first place).

Anyway, I have no compassion for the cold assholes who make life awful for others.
