San Francisco police shoot man at least 15 times while bystanders capture video

San Francisco police officers surrounded and fatally shot a man on Wednesday, a shooting that was captured on Instagram video and Facebook video by witnesses at the scene.

San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr said the man matched a description of a suspect who had recently stabbed someone in the area. The man police killed was carrying a knife.

On Thursday, the man was identified as 26-year-old Mario Woods, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Though the user recording turns away as police open fire, viewers can hear the first of a barrage of at least 15 shots. The video shows Woods bending over and up against a wall before police kill him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that Suhr told reporters at a news conference on Wednesday night that five officers fired their weapons at Woods, who was reportedly carrying a 6- to 8-inch knife.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, a stabbing victim went to San Francisco General Hospital around 3:49 p.m. local time, and told a city Sheriff's Department deputy that he was stabbed in the shoulder in the Bayview district and suffered non-fatal wounds. The victim, along with a witness to the incident, provided a description of the suspect to police, who found Woods still in the area and claimed that he matched the victim's account.

Who police let live. The difference to me is that they both were given an opportunity to surrender and this guy chose not to take it.

but it seems that somewhat more than 10 percent of the killers are police, because when police kill it's often overkill involving multiple police and multiple full magazines used in the process.

Why are the police so scared all the time?

I seriously don't understand this kind of over reaction. I was reading yesterday the officers at the San Bernadino shooting fired over 350 rounds. Maybe I am cracked but it seems like once they start shooting they just empty their guns.

I don't know if cell phones are just catching them doing something they have been doing all along but this is not protecting and serving it is more like giving frightened children guns with a license to spray bullets at anything that moves towards them.
