When do I get my freedom to assemble back?

The First Amendment of the Constitution grants me Freedom to Assemble in movie theaters, stadiums, malls, demonstrations and more. The problem is there are so many people walking around with guns, I don't know when the next mass shooting might occur, or if I might be the next victim. My freedom is being trampled upon by gun advocates and owners who have interpreted the law to such an extreme that I can no longer safely assemble with fellow Americans.

In addition, dangerous places like shopping malls, and other gathering places where businesses and their employees are trying to prosper are denied an equal opportunity to make money because people fear going out in such places, as they could be shot. The very rich and large corporations can more easily protect their elite, but sadly I don't have this same opportunity to pursue happiness. Am I destined to live in a world where I have to stay behind a gate, and have my food sent to me via Amazon?

Compared with other countries, I have a lot less freedom to go where where I want to go, and do what I want to do, and start a business or work where I want to have an equal opportunity. If anyone is getting controlled by the government, it is the people who can no longer safely assemble without fear that a hate group, terrorist or vigilante will come out with an AK-47. And I should not have to go out and purchase an AK-47 as protection, or even be an expert with guns to enjoy my life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

When do I get my First Amendment freedom back?

maybe stay home in your crib.

Seriously, no where are you guaranteed a freedom from fear. That's life Deal with it. Or not.

You can assemble anywhere you want. Just don't whine about it.

People also whine about free speech, but I'm sure glad I have it. If there are increasingly more armed vigilantes that might shoot us, you can bet your SuperPAC donation to the Kock Brothers that you and I will have less freedom in the years ahead.

If you are walking around in fear it is time to turn off the TV. You are a perfect example of what they are shooting for. Scaring you so much you will agree to any bullshit they shove at you to make you feel safe.

Violence continues to decline in america it is safer today than any time in your life yet you are scared to go to the mall now because the TV has been spewing fear at you 24/7

I don't have a cable subscription. But I'm not really interested in going to big sporting events or movies either. Mass shootings are up though. Assault rifles, high capacity magazines and more make it easier to kill more people at once. Of course I'm being a little dramatic, but there are many that are scared, and with reasonable reason.

has guaranteed freedom of assembly for belligerent gun toting racists. Not so much for the rest of us.
These are bullying tactics that are now being taken to the extreme and seemingly accepted as normal - it is always some loser's cause.

They have their candidates, they are the ones who bring up these issues wherever possible - lines in the grocery store etc., they have the protection of weak kneed politicians, and they will get an article in the paper for their murderous temper tantrums at least.

In subtle ways our behavior is changing because the crazy people are in charge.

the way some others appear to be doing. I think you raise some very interesting points, and we should be looking for and exploring every manner of possibly persuasive arguments against this terror of guns and lunatics with guns going out in public with them and killing innocent people. I don't live my life in terror or fear, but I understand why people want stricter gun control and agree with all who advocate for it. I applaud you for looking at this from angles that may be different from those we often hear.

I would ask if you have been living under a rock for the last 20 years, and apparently, you have.

Even if gun crimes were 0, you are more likely to be killed in an auto accident than murdered, so you would only have the right to assemble within walking distance.

It is a incredibly rare event compared to most other causes of death, you probably don't know (not saying you don't, but it is highly unlikely you do), nor will probably ever know a single person involved in one.

But lets be honest, this entire OP is a rhetorical device. You are not actually afraid to go out in public, because of mass shootings. No one in their right mind would be. They would be more afraid of dying in a car accident or from catching a disease and dying, those are both way more likely results of public interaction.

Your chances of getting shot in a mass shooting are minuscule. You actually have better odds of hitting the lottery. And violent crime is at the lowest levels since the 1960s and 70s depending on crime.

Also, individual gun ownership is actually down.
