(17,650 posts)to continue. There are those who wouldn't have as many children to foster and adopt and raise the 'right' way. Then there is the cycle of poverty that teen pregnancy helps perpetuate, the kind of poverty that drives young people into the military. Also, if teen pregnancy becomes a thing of the past, there goes one more 'punishment' that can be visited upon those who don't adhere to fundy morals. A large reduction in teen pregnancy would change America and there are some who would have much to lose.

(4,524 posts)They want to 'punish' them for being 'immoral' by forcing them to have a child, which will in turn ruin their lives. It's a sick, and borderline psychotic form of reasoning.

(34,645 posts)However, I just wanted to point out that the premise of this cartoon (Obama doesn't want teenage girls to have contraceptives) is false. Because they are prohibiting OTC use of one drug to minors does not mean they are prohibiting all OTC contraceptives to teenage girls. I'm disappointed that the cartoonist resorted to such distorted hyperbole, as her other cartoons are always spot-on.
