(In my best deep South accent) Ah am a delicate flower and some words offend me deeply.

First in line are words such as penis, wanker and Dick even if it's someone's name as in my old friend Wanker Jones.

It is winter. While I have always been somewhat penilely challenged, in the winter some things that get cold tend to want to go and crawl back within my body... that can make it very frustrating when suddenly having to urinate badly. It is both embarrassing and traumatic especially when seen by another. That, and it's obvious disrespect to those of us who will never be auditioned for coveted porn roles. At any time that I read one of these words it reminds me that I am but a fraction of so many other men and that's a terrible thing for you to do to me. It means even more to me today as my ex wife got my penis in the divorce. Please be considerate.

2nd: PUPPIES. As a child, I made the mistake of being prostrate on the floor in a room with 17 puppies of ages 12-16 weeks whereupon they all ran to my prostrate body and put their mouths, tongues and cold noses over every bit of bare skin that they could while yipping in devil tongues threatening to eat my flesh to the bones. Now when I read the word puppies I fall into a faint and must take time to get myself together before moving on with the rest my day.

Please know that if I ever see the use of any of these words I shall message my friends and alert on your terrible transgression upon my personal comfort on the internet.

Once upon a time, DU had a great poster who used to gather all the funny posts every week and post them in a thread he called the DUzy's.

I even won a couple back in the day.

Your post is one such.

Congrats!

Ah'm always bitchin' about the "delicate flowers." I call 'em "tender flowers," I guess cuz ah'm a Yankee masquerading as Lindsay Graham. Puppies! Puppies! Puppies! (Sorry. )

Trigger warnings are for people like this little boy and thousands like him.

For me, if typing two words may spare a sexual assault victim further suffering, then I'll type two words. Too trivialize and laugh about the painful feelings of those in life who have been abused is really pathetic behavior, in my opinion.

However I have no expectations of others to police their vocabulary for fear of giving me "the sadz."

Simply stating the way things are for me. Incivility in itself is not a quantifiable thing.

That was the intention of the OP. What might hurt another in the form of words, might also be stated without offending a majority of readers as in the reader can always put the book down.

As silly as it is, I recently lost all and was nearly killed in a fire and now even the word sends to a dark place and seeing a film or newscast gives me anxiety. I would never expect others to temper their conversation both verbal and written to my certain peccadillo.

There are times when victimization gets out of hand and the victims make a mini "poor me" out of their experiences. I am a very empathetic person, but I can also be a realist. Shit happens and oft times it's terrible and unbearable shit. But we move on, placing one foot in front of the other hoping to eventually put those things behind us.

But when your or my experience flows over into trying to shame others...

I have the tee shirt and won nasty prizes. I don't give those things any impetus to my ability to read things that make me uncomfortable. I get over it and acknowledge that, thank god, not everyone has had the same experiences I have.

You do understand that waking up in a hospital as a grown man who has experienced a trauma due to fire, tornado, earthquake, etc. and waking up in the hospital as a six year old 40 pound person who has experienced trauma due to sexual assault by a trusted and loved person, are two extremely different traumas with two completely different healing trajectories, correct?

I can't understand how anyone can read the story i posted and then start talking about being a grown man who has experienced being in a fire to explain the troubles they've seen.

I am going to be an ally for the sobbing child for as long as they need and type two words so that they do not have to be randomly reminded of the time they were in the hospital for stitches. You keep being the warrior for freedom to not have to empathize with the pain of others.

On edit: Also, aren't you trying to shame those who need or use "trigger warning" in your OP?
