But Trump and Americas religious right are not as different as one would think. If any corner of American Christianity encourages narcissism, its conservative evangelical Christianity.
One of the oddest traits of many deeply religious people is their self-professed humility even as they claim to understand the plan of the creator of the universe as well as their own special role in its development. The late Christopher Hitchens perfectly summarized the brand of arrogance that wears the mask of modesty: Dont mind meIm only on an errand for God.

(27,315 posts)These days, only 10 % of people called complete polls. There is absolutely no attempt to figure out if these polling samples are representative or not. And frankly, the newsmedia do not care. Polls, whether they are solid or biased, with a large or a small MOE, with differences that are statistically representative or not, allow 24 hours news channel to talk, talk, and talk.
I do not necessarily disagree with the author's opinion, but I would not take a poll as proof of anything. Most polls have about 400 people. Assuming white evangelicals are 1/3 of the polling sample, it would be a little less than 150 people. 24 % of this sample would be around 37 people.
So, we probably will know more in early February. For now, I will continue to look and wait to see if this country has become crazy.
