He won big there, as I recall.
Say what you will about the man, but he is the best campaigner we have seen in our lifetimes, period, end of file.
So this could be big.

(5,909 posts)He certainly was not perfect (and I don't even mean Monica) but the man is smart and is a great campaigner. Can't wait to see his speech!

(22,239 posts)...but I think working through a surrogate is less likely to energize the Koch-suckers. I am disappointed with the DNC on this, but I can see a down side to President Obama wading into this.
1) The people who really like President Obama are likely to already be on board.
2) The people who hate President Obama aren't able to use him as a proxy (Meaning that it makes it much much harder for the Koch PR wing to spin a vote for Walker as a way to stick it to the President).

(15,438 posts)Despite all those polls - most bought by corporate America to influence rather than reflect - Wisconsin might not like the sitting president coming down to their state to campaign against their governor, and it might've backfired.
I believe President Obama has asked Big Dawg to go in his stead. I never thought it would be a good idea for a sitting president to ever meddle in state elections. Wisconsinites might see that as a bit heavy-handed and an attempt to bully a poor state.

(9,124 posts)Latest Barrett campaign poll says race a 'dead heat'
The campaign for Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett released another poll showing a tight race Thursday, with candidates neck-and-neck but Gov. Scott Walker edging ahead at 50-48%.
Barrett for Wisconsin put out the poll one day after the release of a Marquette Law School poll, taken last week, showed Barrett down 52-45.
The campaign highlighted poll findings that Barrett lead Walker 51-47 among voters aware of Walker's potential inclusion in a John Doe probe involving staff and aides from the governor's time as Milwaukee County Executive. Barrett for Wisconsin also noted their candidate beat Walker 56-42 among those who did not vote in the 2010 gubernatorial election, according to the poll.
The survey of 821 voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points, according to the campaign. Barrett for Wisconsin touted the findings and those of three other Dem-backed polls that show a tight race, contrary to polls like Marquette's, which put Barrett behind.
Campaign representatives for Walker did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
It's getting a little freaky (heated) between neighbors from opposite sides... I worry about altercations.

(33,688 posts)He can still draw the crowds, and the Big Dawg has always been able to charm the birds out of the trees. People still hold him in high regard and he is one hell of a politician.

(30,058 posts)I allows Walker bunch to think they have it in the bag and it pushes Barrett's angels to get out and vote. I hope the Big Dawg will sent Walker to the house for if anyone can, Bill can do the job. Don't fear, this might have been in the plan, a late surge Walker may not be able to overcome. I know the workers are giving their all, being in Texas I can not help much but know many in this nation are pulling for you. Walker, don't forget John Doe, you might have a position waiting for you.

"During an appearance on CNN on Thursday night, Bill Clinton weighed in on presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's former private equity firm, Bain Capital, which has come under scrutiny in the campaign.
"I don't think we ought to get into a position where we say this is bad work," Clinton said. "This is good work.""
