So help me God, a reporter is standing there with a big blue tarp covering behind him, which he says is a man with a rifle on his lap, who would only acquiesce to being interviewed under those circumstances.
Uh-oh, Blue Tarp Man has poked his head out! We can SEE you, Blue Tarp Man!
Meanwhile they've hijacked a bunch of earth movers and say they're "for protection."
This is RICH.

(14,176 posts)I liked it when he pulled up the tarp a bit and exposed his ample belly--but not his gun, which he has under the covers (?!?).
It was a miraculous little report

(39,313 posts)I heard Lawrence scoff in disbelief over the keys being found... I worked a federal facility last year and all the keys are always somewhere on a board hanging up just like any business with a small fleet. They just happen to have a grader and a dozer at the shop.
This is a compound due to it's remote location and isolation from other federal facilities with equipment. And besides, most heavy equipment (at least this used to be the case when I operated those things) uses one standard Briggs and Stratton key for most units. they might have had one of their own, but I'm sure they could find the keys easily enough, they found their way into the buildings.

(86,607 posts)both clips but I got bored and went to something else, it was interesting to hear how they talk in circles about what they want and Blue Tarp Man was certainly playing the old cowboy being coy with his speech and implicit threats while trying to sound innocent with the standard ".. now I didn't say that, boy, I 'm just sayin'..." It's a common parlance in the culture.

Four days into their occupation, the anti-government activists who took over a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon hinted on Tuesday that their days there might be numbered.
Ringleader Ammon Bundy insisted they "have a plan" to help ranchers in Harney County avoid the fate of Dwight Hammond and his son Steven, who are now in federal prison for setting fires on their ranch that spread to government land.
"We are implementing this plan," Bundy said. "We see a time coming very soon where the community will begin to participate more in that and begin to take that over so they can claim their own rights."
Bundy did not divulge any details of their "plan." But he said that when the community is "strong enough to defend" their rights "then we will go home."
But LaVoy Finicum, one the gunmen who seized the headquarters of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, made it clear he wanted to get back to his Nevada ranch.
"I need to get home," he said. "I got cows that are scattered and lost."

(16,254 posts)Tarp Man probably feels pretty darned comfy under that tarp. Looks like he's spent quite a bit of time under the bedspread, what with 11 kids, unless he has a strong "batting average" - just sayin'.
When it comes right down to it, they can't carry out their threats of being killed rather than surrender. "I need to get home..." since his cows are out. Well, Buddy, looks to me like your brain's been out to lunch for quite a spell.
Wrote a book, eh? It could be a best seller by the end of the day. Should be easy to analyze that mind of his.
