Okay folks, here's your chance...

I regularly see complaints that "the Party bosses" and groups like DCCC won't allow "real Democrats" to run. Well, Rep. Steve Israel is retiring at the end of his term. Who's going to do the hard work of finding and funding a sufficiently progressive Democratic to fill his seat?

How is Bernie Sanders going to implement all his plans if he doesn't have a House and Senate caucus that supports him?

get rid of the asshole Zeldin out here on the East End and when I posted something about it there was deafening silence.

The Bernie/Hillary screaming was as loud as ever.

DU does not seem to be the place for local organizing.

As much as we all would like CU overturned and public funding of campaigns implemented, this is the system we have today. You can:

1) play by the rules we have in place

2) develop a grassroots strategy to work around the rules

3) stay home and complain

it seems to me you are complacent with the way money runs the DNC, and just like to make sure we know that. Shrug.

I do think the success of Bernie's grassroots campaign will be far-reaching and encourage people to think and act and donate and work outside of the Third Way/DNC box. In fact, I know it has. So, it's all good, depending on whether you think the money and Debbie should be running things, or not.

I think that this is a great example of a very important congressional race. It is extremely important that a good Democrat wins.

" Representative Steve Israel, a New York Democrat who led political messaging for his party in the House, said Tuesday that he would not run for re-election, citing the unrelenting demands of fund-raising among the reasons behind his decision to retire.

“I don’t think I can spend another day in another call room making another call begging for money,” Mr. Israel said in an interview in his congressional office. “I always knew the system was dysfunctional. Now it is beyond broken.”

He is saying that he is fed up with the very aspects of politics the OP seems to be taking delight in. This is very ironic. And that's always great fun.

...I get an annoying number of personal calls asking for money, which I'd far prefer to spend elsewhere. I'd be delighted to have public funding, and to have my taxes raised to pay for it. In the meantime, I'm honest enough to acknowledge the reality of the rules we have in place, and to work within them to get as many Democrats elected as possible.

'I'm a telemarketer most of my day' is what one Senator told me. That's not good. What you should be doing is what you are doing and attempting to make rules which don't turn our officials into boiler room employees.
I think it is sad that Steve can't do his job because of the fundraising requirements. That's why I'm for Bernie. I don't know how to staff a call center.
