In my state--NC--if you match the Powerball number and no other numbers on the ticket you win $4.00

I bought 10 tickets--and two that had single number matches on them (not worth anything) and the one
ticket with the PB match.

So, spent $20. got $4.00 back (less the cost of my stamp to mail in the ticket!

I hope some other DU'ers did better!

for example what if you picked those numbers but you picked 4 as the powerball ?

That counts as matching 4 of the numbers, no Powerball, so you win $100. There is no extra benefit to choosing the Powerball number as one of the regular numbers.

If you chose 4, 8, 19, 27 and 34 and something other than 10 as the Powerball you win $1 million.
