University of York study shows that scented candles can be deadly

snip

Perfumes, air fresheners and cleaning products often contain limonene

Study found limonene reacts with other gases in air to make formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is a chemical known to cause nose and throat cancer

If rooms aren't properly ventilated, it can build up to dangerous levels

My daughter just swapped cars with me for the weekend. I'll have to check the air freshener she has hanging in her car. Thanks for the tip.

including people.

Perfume, cologne, the fumes are annoying.

I did like the xmas advertising, though. Sensual and incomprehensible.

It's the stuff that doesn't burn completely that does the most harm. Almost all fires have areas where there is insufficient oxygen for complete combustion, and products of pyrolysis (heat-induced decomposition) form instead. Many different organic materials, including cellulose (paper, cotton, etc.) form some formaldehyde on pyrolysis. Lots of other nasties, such as acrolein, are formed as well, and any nitrogenous material is likely to form traces of hydrogen cyanide.

When I am around that stuff, I can smell how disgusting and toxic it is. Many people no longer open their windows. Its just sad.
