Amsterdam Men to Don Miniskirts in Support of Cologne Women

Male members of the PvdA, D66, SP and GroenLinks’ youth movements will be protesting in mini-skirts on the Spui in the heart of Amsterdam on Saturday afternoon. They want to show support for women’s rights and their displeasure with Cologne mayor Henriette Reker’s statements following the large number of sexual assaults in the German city over New Year’s.
After more than a hundred women were attacked in the German city on New Year’s Eve, Reker advised women to stay at arms length of strangers. Advice that does not sit well with the Young Socialists in the PvdA, the Young Democrats, ROOD, the youth in the SP and DWARS, GroenLinks’ youth.
On Facebook the youth movements invite men, and women, to join their protest on Saturday, wearing miniskirts. “Not women, but men must keep away at arms length. Too often sexual violence against women is put down as a woman-problem: don’t wear short skirts. That is never the solution. Short skirts are not at fault.” they write.
“Therefore we are reversing the rolls and we celebrate the skirt and the freedom that goes with it. We deploy our hairy knees for a free society in which women can walk the streets undisturbed, day and night, on short-skirt day or in the middle of the winter.”
Such lovely young men. Kudos!
I've come up with an idea of what Germany and other European countries could do to protect women and weed out the migrants who do not belong in a society with free women.
It's outrageous that European women are being advised to stay home after dark so that foreign men can roam through their cities and hometowns.
Women and girls must have their rights of free movement and safety restored.
They need to make street harassment an infraction, especially harassment of a minor.
Pinching, rubbing up against a woman, groping, blocking a girl's path by dancing back and forth in front of her as she's on her way to school -- women and girls should not have to tolerate this behavior.
Encourage girls and women to wear bodycams, to make sure to get pictures of the harassers. Demand police vigorously follow up on complaints and hold the harassers accountable.
Five harassment infractions equals a plane ticket back to their home countries. And that means off German streets, period. If they can't be deported, they have to be put into internment camps.
Make sure the word gets out among the men. Little bodycams are inexpensive, make sure they are widespread. Make sure the men know that any harassment will be documented and reported.
And, yes, it's true, this could be potentially be abused by a malicious woman. She could allege a man pinched her or grabbed her while standing or walking close by--the camera didn't pick up the pinch, but she felt it, and then turned toward him, so she has a clear picture.
To be sure of not being unfairly accused, men will need to keep at least an arm length's distance from all women in public spaces.
Let the men be the ones that must protect their personal safety by worrying about keeping their distance from strangers.
