Kappler writes that upon arriving at the home he found Palin outside talking on his phone with a visible injury to his right eye. He also observed that Palins eyes were bloodshot and that his breath smelled like alcohol, and writes that Palin was uncooperative, belligerent and evasive. Because of Palins escalating hostility and the unknown whereabouts of the victim, Kappler placed Palin under arrest.
Soon after Palin was handcuffed, other officers on the scene located the victim, who is identified in the report as Palins girlfriend. She was found hiding and crying underneath a bed inside the residence and told police that earlier in the night Palin had struck her near the eye with a closed fist and then held a rifle to his head threatening suicide (the victims last name has been redacted):
She and her boyfriend of one year, Track Palin, left a different residence together and were arguing the whole way home. Once they got to his home they argued in the car, then in the driveway. They were screaming and he was calling her names. [Redacted] told Palin that she had called the cops even though she had not, in attempt to calm him down and to scare him away from touching her. Palin approached [Redacted] and struck her on the left side of her head near her eye with a closed fist. [Redacted] got on the ground in a fetal position because she didnt know what else he would do. Palin then kicked [redacted] on the right knee. [Redacted]s phone was sitting on the ground in front of her. Palin took her phone and threw it across the driveway. She retrieved the phone and went inside the house. Palin was already inside and holding onto a gun, yelling do you think Im a pussy? and do you think I wont do it? [Redacted] stated Palin cocked the gun and was holding the rifle out next to him with the his right hand near the trigger and his left hand near the barrel, with the barrel just away from his face pointed to the side. [Redacted] was concerned that he would shoot himself and ran outside and around the house. She didnt see where Palin went, so she went inside and up the stairs, where she hid under a bed. Shortly after, she heard Palin walking around inside looking for her. Palin left after not locating her.

(14,912 posts)bragging about how many people they have on their ignore lists, haven't you? I, personally, don't use the function but MANY do. Sorry, not trying to sound like an asshole, but it just gets under my skin when I see someone post "DUPE!" or something to that effect because it's NOT a DUPE! to MANY readers.
As someone down-thread stated, this was the first time they had seen the story....

(1,958 posts)It is serioisly evident that this young man needs to get some help. Are his parents still together? Could his father step in? Other relatives?
I know DUers like to make light of the Palins, but this kid needs help.

(14,912 posts)though, the first time I ever laid eyes on him, the first thing that popped into my mind was "he's a drug-runner". I don't know why, other than being able to "read people" from many years as a bouncer in a biker bar. Then I read that he was a pilot and had his own small plane, plus all the dog sled and snow machine races he participates in, and my radar pinged even higher! Watching him at some debates and other appearances on TV, he always seemed like he was trying to avoid the cameras and limelight/attention, too.
I could be totally off base here, and certainly don't want to slander or libel him, but that's just the vibes that I, personally, get from him. His affiliation with the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP) didn't help much, either. They wanted Alaska to seceed from the US and fly under the Russian flag, if memory serves correctly. Something about him just seemed dark, secretive and shady to me. My instincts have served me well over the years, even kept me alive, and out of prison, a few times. I am rarely ever wrong with my gut instincts.
Track has already been in trouble, that's why he was in the Army... he had a choice of going to the Army or jail. He's probably suffering from PTSD now, which would explain the drinking, fighting and threatening suicide. It also makes one wonder about their home life when we know that Track, Bristol and Willow were all using guns, alcohol and drugs while they were underage....
Just my 2 cents worth....

(20,582 posts)Punched her in the face ........ had a loaded weapon, was drunk. Like tens of thousands of others that do the same thing every day/week on this continent. Not all were in the service or have ptsd ............ some are just abusive assholes who feel entitled to pound on smaller, weaker people without even thinking twice about it. He was in trouble before being sent to 'war' where he served as a guard and was never on the front lines anywhere - imho he's a narcissistic abuser who probably learned it from his narcissistic mother, who seems to have taught her children they're better than others and don't really have to abide by the same rules or common decency most of us learn at an early age. I give him no pass. He deserves punishment - it's probably the only way he'll learn a thing.

(1,958 posts)He obviously needs help to stop behaving this way.

(20,582 posts)And then .......... some therapy to help realize what he's obviously never known - empathy, compassion and decency.

(8,699 posts)I feel for the young lady involved, I hope she finds peace and heals well and I wish her the very best in a life that, hopefully, doesn't ever involve a Palin ever again.
That being said, it says everything we need to know about Sarah Palin's character and values that a day after this tragic event she is off giving an endorsement to tRump.
We only have to look at the lives of ruin that are her children's lives to know what kind of mother and person she really is behind closed doors.
So, I do feel sorry for them. When I hear her voice, all I have to do is change the channel. They have to live with her and it shows.

(25,816 posts)She called me last night and told me about it. This was a few weeks ago. She said he was drunk and obnoxious.
My daughter's fiancé was present. I asked how he handled it and she said he just laughed because he knew that
she could deal with Track just fine by herself.

(1,423 posts)Hopefully the domestic violence laws are strict enough in Alaska to see to it that Track cannot have a gun ever again.
