I only caught part of it - and that pissed me off plenty enough.
The book is called "Crisis Point: Why We Must - and How We Can - Overcome Our Broken Politics in Washington and Across America" - isn't that rich? One of the many architects of broken politics now being paid to shill for how to fix it.
Among the gems I heard - "we need to energize people to vote" - "lots of presidents have been given a hard time - they need to learn how to work with all" - and other gems.
I tried to call in to see if they remembered such things as "we are going to do everything we can so that Obama fails" and other gems like the restrictive new voting laws, gerrymandering and any other of the various shit moves by the right wing - oh yes, and also mention the megaphone of propaganda, Faux news and the impact on people.
But no, I couldn't get in - the line was busy for the 10 minutes I had to try.
I know lots here like her show and see her as fair and balanced. Not me. I don't think she has ever escaped from the DC bubble and had equal viewpoints of the left on to counter her often right - stacked guests.

(135,425 posts)They're relying on their experience, and talking about a different time in DC. Yeah, Bush was an asshole, and Cheney was worse, but Harry Reid was tough as nails, and Pelosi knew how to bang that gavel, too.
If you recall, Daschle was supposed to be John Kerry's HHS nominee during his run. He was in private life at that time.
And Trent Lott? He imploded towards the end of the Bush regime, with his Strom Thurmond comments and other issues, and he retired before Obama took office too.
So they really didn't get the full flavor of the last administration.
That said, I didn't listen to the show--it's just that those two weren't on the Hill (at least in any official/governmental capacity) and weren't part of the "Let's Play Gotcha With the Black Guy" culture that may have cropped up amongst some racists and assorted assholes in Congress.

(43,049 posts)they were talking about the olden days when you fought to the death on the floor and went out for a drink later. Just because they didn't address every point doesn't mean the hour was wasted.
They were bemoaning the teabaggers who refuse to compromise. They had a few "kind" words for the hard left, too, although there aren't as many of those in Congress.
Don't fall into the same trap the teabaggers have-- the "My way or the highway" crap. They believe they are correct at least as much as we do, so since neither side will be destroyed, we have to compromise.
Compromise does often suck, but the alternative... Well, we see the alternative.
