Here in NC, they're saying we could get up to an inch of ice. That pretty much ensures power outages. Last major ice storm, we lost power for 6 days. It was no fun. Some things to consider:
Batteries for flashlights, radios, etc.
If you have oil lamps, clean them and fill them up
Do all laundry
Wash all dishes
Precook any food you will need
Extra tank of propane for the gas grill, propane for camp stoves
Firewood if you can use it
Plenty of pet food
Lots of booze
Fill needed prescriptions
Fill up the gas tank
Charge cell phones
What am I missing?

(14,400 posts)we ran out the last time we had a big ice storm. We neglected to add in how much bored kids would encourage increased alcohol intake.

Make sure you have meds you need.
Check in on others, especially the vulnerable.

Snuggling in the dark with wine, hummus and my husband would be a good start, but with some good reads, videos, news, we'd be smugly comfy in our little world.
