For icy steps and sidewalks in freezing conditions,

mix 1 teaspoon of Dawn dishwashing liquid, 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol, and 1/2 gallon hot/warm water, and pour over walk ways.

They won't refreeze, or eat at the concrete as salt does.

From a friend.

if the turkey didn't turn into one big lump of carbon, I'd be surprised. I didn't have the patience to watch the whole thing.

Yes but think about how quickly you could clear a driveway.

I have a LOT of digging to do later today.

I'm not in the blizzard's path today, but will keep this in mind for the next storm. If anyone tries it, please keep us updated as to whether or not it works. I'm curious. Thanks.

We tried it once. Refroze overnight.

They use potassium or calcium now. Doesn't eat up the pavement and come spring the plants actually appreciate it. Supposedly in a commercial sense (as in treating roadways) it's better for the environment as far as water run off as well.

Sand. Sand won't eat concrete, either.
