I've suggested that people donate large jugs instead.

And Michigan has a 10-cent bottle deposit. Cashing all those bottles in might be a great way to start a Flint relief fund!

edit: Most of the bottles, of course, came from out of state. But as long as they have "MI 10c" printed on the label, entrepreneurial Flint residents should be good to go.

After hurricane Katrina they borrowed these from the military. Trucked in water from clean sources. The governor could borrow them from the National Guard but apparently he's not so swift.

It hasn't been completely ignored. But it certainly is one of those 'unintended consequences' RWers used to warn us about.
