(118,338 posts)that the judge, as the top county official, should have adopted a firm stance with the state police and the federal officials to ensure that everyone understood clearly that the take-over of a federal facility was primarily a matter of county concern and that the county must at all times have final say in how matters would be handled
Whether others might find other theories, of state and federal power, more convincing does not seem to concern the county's constitutional scholars who prefer this particular theory

(11,415 posts)I am sorry that he chose to arm himself and take over public land and threaten the rangers and those whose job it is to protect the Reserve.
I wish he would have not confronted the law with violent intent. He and so many others have been led into a worthless endeavor of fighting for the rights of those who feel entitled to rage against the rights of the common people.
They are afraid of losing their elite advantage over the common people of a Democratic society. They are fighting for a first class citizens advantage that most of them have never had and a few of them got from fraud or personal connections. We are not living in the in this Country to ride above anyone.
We all must respect each other and revue the handling of each person under the law and under a common and fair manner.
They don't realize that they can't push us around because they think something is theirs alone when its not.
This just how I feel. I am so sad for this man and yet so sad that his kind of radical misled fearful followers who have caused the deaths of some many innocents and fostered the distrust of so many neighbors against one another, that we have a political system that is corrupt almost to point of losing the idea of our democracy.

(60,010 posts)and sure enough, it looks like Blue Tarp man did a stupid thing and was reaching inside his jacket....
Couldn't help but wonder...did he really think he was invincible? That they would not shoot? Even after he almost ran over one of the cops?

(118,338 posts)you won't be taken alive, run a police roadblock, try to run a second roadblock, and then reach for your gun when confronted by state troopers without getting shot!

... The shooting of Finicum by an Oregon State Police trooper was the needless taking of a life, asserted Monte Siegner, 79, wearing a cowboy hat and holding a handmade sign that said Ambushed & Assassinated.
Siegner, from the small community of Riverside, about 60 miles east, stood with his son, Clint Siegner, 43, who drove from Eagle, Idaho, on Friday to support his father.
The younger Siegner stood with a sign that said, Federal Supremicists Murdered an Innocent Man ...
