Any Lawyers here? Iowa SoS says Cruz mailer "misrepresents Iowa election law”.

“Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law,” Paul Pate, the Iowa secretary of state, said in a statement distributed by his office.

“Accusing citizens of Iowa of a ‘voting violation’ based on Iowa Caucus participation, or lack thereof, is false representation of an official act."

Are there any sanctions applicable to misrepresenting (State) electoral laws, if it not designed to suppress the vote?

Misrepresenting electoral law is completely legal? The electoral college is proportional representation?

It's not a subject that many lawyers will have immediate knowledge of.

Why are you talking about the electoral college?

The electoral college representation is a State Matter.

If a candidate represented a State's college as proportional representation, would there be a sanction? Misrepresents the State's electoral law. Is there a limit?
