Carson compares campaign to lions and tigers eating the eagle at the Coliseum in ancient Rome

While Carson polled well in the lead up to the 2016 contest, the Republican has failed to gain traction in the early contests and has yet to crack the top three in any primary or caucus.

Carson continued Tuesday evening with a somewhat baffling comparison to ancient Rome.

"It's just a matter of time before [people] start demanding answers, and they start demanding solutions because right now we're sort of in the ancient Rome stage where everyone wanted to go to the Coliseum, 'Oh, bring on the lions and tigers, let's see them eat the eagle. This is cool.' While Rome was burning."

"But we have a bunch of fire extinguishers, we are going to put the fire out and put the fire in our bellies," he said.

Yeah, I know he's considered a brilliant neurosurgeon. I don't care. He's way too scary.
