After last night I'm terrified.

(81,859 posts)The establishment types have always exploited the Trump types. The republican voter is now well represented.

(81,859 posts)They play them as they wish and ignore them when they get into office. TV republicans use the poor to advance the goals of the rich.

That's why some of them are openly saying they prefer Clinton.

(38,427 posts)They are just "angry" that things haven't worked out so well, and feel that the so called, "Democratic Party" caused things to not work out so well. ..That anger..is exemplified by ..Trump telling off everyone..that is exactly what the "Poor Republican Voters" would like to do..tell off the assholes that got in their way....
[b ] It would take more reading and research to know that Trump represents one of those assholes, and is one..
but..he sounds like someone telling off the bad guys on immigration, and we are going to build a wall, and a lot of the other bullshit that appeals to the less informed. The hate and ugly language.. sounds good to the "Poor Republican Voters" who do not see themselves as "poor" ..yes, they are probably angry and understand that..but "they caused that" and Trump is going to get them, sadly...........they haven't got a clue that he is one of those that caused their pain.......and
This is the same technique that Hitler used to appeal to a significant minority of Germans in the early 30s...Remember..and this is also very important..Hitler never got more than 35 percent of the vote in any election..He always had the minority up to the day he was picked to lead the government..

I'm thinking a very shady deal somewhere in the past. Unfortunately those sorts of things take a long time to develop and may not happen in time.

(15,238 posts)Mostly Fascist in tone but actually mainstream Republican based on the few vague details availlable. The bases are covered with Hillary Clinton fake Progressive on the left. So you are left with either a Fascist or aged Goldwater girl.

(12,296 posts).... that there is something the GOP-proper can use to get him off their ticket. An extremely weak Rubio or Cruz, with tRump running Indie & sucking up all the everything-phobic votes, would guarantee a Dem victory, no matter who we have atop the ticket.
I just have no idea how long he'll drag it out.

He's clearly been told to "tone it down" and he came off as calm and reasonable (his affect, not his words) in the first half of the speech. He got more wound up as he went along but in those first minutes, he was pulling off "I'm just a guy who cares about my country and wants to help you."
We have seen with GWBush that Americans can be easily fooled by someone who "seems like a good guy" even if what he says is nonsense.
With some more training, Trump could learn to hide all his crazy behind a façade of calm blathering. We forget that a lot of people still aren't paying close attention to this race. If Trump is able to learn to stay calm while he bloviates, we could be in real trouble.

(54,013 posts)He will become more disciplined about toning it down as November approaches. He is currently the only Republican Clinton is beating in the polls, but I expect he will be able to turn that around. Despite the polling, I'd be less worried about a Cruz nomination than a Trump one.

(7,107 posts)Trump winning the GOP will be the best thing for Democrats since Herbert Hoover.
Cruz is scary religious.
Rubio could actually win.
I'm a huge Trump cheerleader right now.

(26,060 posts)Except I was rooting against him in Alaska. I wanted the stark revelation that sarah palin is a nobody - her endorsement couldn't even get donnie her home state. I was REALLY rooting for him in TX. I don't like trump but I loathe cruz.
