Wonkette

As most of you know, Wonkette is a terrific website specializing in political satire. I've read it for years and usually found it to be smart, witty and fearless.

Lately, however, it leaves me cold and I don't enjoy it like I used to. I just figured out why: real life has become satire and the other side of satire isn't funny. For example, hearing Governor Romney demand that Donald Trump release his tax returns is beyond humor or hypocrisy. Reading that Senate Republicans, who claim to follow the Constitution, won't hold hearings on President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, (in spite of their Constitutional responsibility to advise and consent), because "the people should have a say in the nomination," (hint: they did when he was re-elected). Or seeing that Governor Palin has endorsed Mr. Trump when, if circumstances were different, he would call her a loser and a quitter-- which she is, of course. And that bastion of Conservatism, the National Review, is virulently and violently opposed to Mr. Trump's candidacy even though much of the rank and file seem to be behind him.

One feature that graced DU for the years was the Top Ten Conservative Idiots of the Week that EarlG posted and retired until Initech began posting it. While their efforts have been excellent and pithy, I think that these days it would be too difficult to sift through all of the insanity trying to find only ten dumbest Conservatives.
