What are the chances no other Republican gets 8 states?

Michael Smirconish from POTUS on Sirius FM says that due to a rule change put in place to avoid the Romney fiasco, a nominee must have carried 8 states in order to qualify for the convention.

Who can pull it off?

Rule 40

now pretty soon it will be winner take all and so you'd have to stop Trump pretty soon for Rule 40 to apply. I think he only has 1 of the 8 states so far-South Carolina

If that's the case they're screwed unless something radically shifts the dynamic.

Kasich? No chance.

Rubio? Unlikely.

Cruz? Maaaaaybe... and wouldn't it be hilarious to watch the GOP battle it out over who they'd rather have destroy their party, Cruz or Trump?
