The photograph that changed the face to AIDS.

Remember History, don't Revise it.

Nancy Reagan thought stem cell research could help her husband. It was likely her only reason for becoming it's champion.

When other people, even her friends, suffered, she said nothing. Did nothing.

“Only one hospital in the world can offer necessary medical treatment to save life of Rock Hudson or at least alleviate his illness,” Olson wrote. Although the commanding officer had denied Hudson admission to the French military hospital initially, Olson wrote that they believed “a request from the White House … would change his mind.”

First Lady Nancy Reagan turned down the request.

So, while I'll avoid grave dancing, I'll also avoid the fawning bullshit that's floating through the air today.

let alone a president. Reagan was very much a figurehead, who let his corrupt and evil cronies run the country. Reagan went on TV with his "friendly grandpa" act and fooled the gullible American electorate that his administration was concerned about working people, while it did everything it could to help billionaires.

Reagan's wife could have done something with her position of prominence to do good in the world. But she preferred to be a monarch.

If you love those who loves you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?

He's a good and decent man. He had fucking monsters for parents. But they were his parents and he must grieve terribly for his mother.
They were still monsters.
Ask anyone on the Guatemalan left who survived the 1980s.

in Hollywood, and yet, managed to behave as if they were trying to stab those friends in the back. Which, IMO, is part of why Elizabeth Taylor got so angry ...
