UIC Students shut down a racist demagogue on their campus this evening

I watched the coverage on MSNBC. At one point, there's a burly white guy pumping his fist, yelling "UIC! UIC!" The camera moves just a bit and we see a burly black guy in a BlackLivesMatter T-shirt (both very young) pumping his fist, yelling 'UIC! UIC!"

These protesters were anti-racist college students strenuously objecting to Trump bringing his racist circus act to their home turf. One wore an Angela Davis T shirt.

There was a least one Bernie sign unfurled, and at one point a "Bernie! Bernie!" chant broke out. But I don't think it was a Bernie protest, it's just that lots of young anti-racist activists also support Bernie, so they showed support for him.

On Rachel's show, there was a person interviewed who had been covering Chicago politics for 40 years. She said she had never seen a Republican candidate schedule a rally on the UIC downtown Chicago campus. It's an urban school, with a very diverse student body.

IMO, Trump scheduled this rally deliberately at a school where he knew it wouldn't be welcomed by the student body. Master Demagogue Trump asked for trouble, got it, got lots of publicity, and may well get more fans and more votes from it. Sad. Very upsetting.

I stand with the young people of UIC.

2. They had raised 50,000 signatures for the school to not let the rally be held on campus.

They did what students do. I'm glad the do it!

4. Ah, thank you. The only news I had heard was that they were blaming the whole thing

on Bernie supporters. Sounds like there is much more to the actual story. Good for them for standing up to the racist.
