Barack Obama took the opportunity of a press event on Capitol Hill in Washington on Tuesday to condemn violence in the presidential campaign, such as that which has broken out at rallies held by Republican frontrunner Donald Trump. Saying he was ‘dismayed’ at the incidents, Obama suggested they were a result of ‘vulgar and divisive rhetoric’, and urged his fellow politicians to ‘set a better example’
