Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe Bernie bird was cool and all, but nothing compared to
The Double rainbow over the Grateful Dead in Santa Clara last summer.
Thanks to my friend, and extraordinary photographer Beau Rogers who took this amazing image. Some context, this was June 26,2015 the weekend after the SCOTUS decision regarding gay rights and the weekend of Gay pride in SF.

(12,882 posts)Brought tears to my eyes to watch it. All of the comments I've seen have been in concert with Bernie's speculation. But I - not having a religious bone in my body - immediately thought of the passage "Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God." I may well have it interpreted wrong, but that says to me that even the lowliest of us is important.
This says to me that under a Sanders administration, even the most disadvantaged of us won't be forgotten. And in response to that, I'd like to ask the HRC community to point out when their contender has even ever SEEN a homeless person - let alone addressed their plight.
So yeah - the sparrow knew who he could trust - and he chose to create a moment of magic to spur Bernie's mojo along!

(3,569 posts)In every sense of the word, and they compared this to a religious moment. "Like seeing God" and did a lot to soften their stance on gay rights.(Catholics through and through).

Glad to hear your friends got a religious experience, a good old zen slap out of it! Thanks for telling--I love it when instant insights occur.
The Good vs Evil theme in this election year just got a big boost....

(12,882 posts)I'd love to do a video of Trump at a podium with his head spinning around and spewing green slime like the girl in "The Exorcist". All the while with his words of hate playing in the background!

(928 posts)That's why religion is so popular. But I gotta give you this one. Double rainbow, with this band, at that time.
A total thumbs up.

I think that bird had impeccable timing though, not as beautiful as a rainbow but placed in the right place at the right time. Like when my previous dog just gave up on barking at me and started to learn english to communicate. hard to beat a moment like that. (note, of course a boarder collie)

(3,569 posts)"The Eleven"
High green chilly winds and windy vines
In loops around the twisted shafts of lavender,
They're crawling to the sun.
Underfoot the ground is patched
With arms of ivy wrapped around the manzanita,
Stark and shiny in the breeze.
Wonder who will water all the children of the garden
When they sigh about the barren lack of rain and
Droop so hungry neath the sky.
William Tell has stretched his bow till it won't stretch
No furthermore and/or it may require a change that hasn't come before.
No more time to tell how, this is the season of what,
Now is the time of returning with our thought
Jewels polished and gleaming.
Now is the time past believing the child has relinquished the rein,
Now is the test of the boomerang tossed in the night of redeeming.
Seven faced marble eyed transitory dream doll,
Six proud walkers on the jingle bell rainbow,
Five men writing with fingers of gold,
Four men tracking down the great white sperm whale,
Three girls waiting in a foreign dominion
Riding in the whalebelly, fade away in moonlight,
Sink beneath the waters to the coral sands below.
