1894, Trump moved to Monte Cristo, where he used his shrewd business sensibility to earn an advantage in town. Blair explains in an article for Politico:
"Without delay, Trump scoped out the best location there, secured it by filing a bogus mineral claim, built a hotel on the parcel even though it didn't actually belong to him, and began giving the customers, once again, exactly what they wanted: plenty to eat, lots to drink and of course women."
Three years later, the town struggled to live up to the hype, so Trump cashed out in the summer of 1897 and moved on to the Yukon, setting up another hotel/brothel catered to miners.

(34,661 posts)Third Generation Con-man doing his thing. Understand the Fourth Generation is about to carry the Family Legacy in the same fine fashion. Just how ignorant to reality are his Supporters. Grew up in a area that seen the same dying industries as his Coal State Blue Collar Supporters are seeing today. North Western Wisconsin was the Lumber Capital of the World until World War two, then all the good Lumber Trees were gone, well,Washington and Oregon became the Lumber Capital. Back in Wisconsin,we all got a Education and got the hell out of there, and yes you will still to this day, find many who think the Lumber Business is coming back. Last we heard was, that area is a hot bed for the Trumpnuts. No surprise.

(3,585 posts)and Donald was also a draft evader, which is interesting, since his grandfather was evicted from Germany for avoiding military service and taxes, and his father Fred didn't serve in WWII.
Woody Guthrie wrote about Donald's father being a slumlord. The family seems to have no distractions from a single minded pursuit of money.
