http://www.thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/davidbadash/georgia_republicans_threaten_special_session_to_override_governor_s_veto_of_anti_gay_billBut state GOP Sen. Mike Crane (photo), who is also running for Congress, has launched a campaign to convince fellow lawmakers an "emergency" exists and they must return to the state capitol to override his upcoming veto....
"This fight is not over," Crane insists. "Today I am calling for a special session to override the Governors veto and protect the First Amendment rights of law abiding and hardworking voters throughout this state."
He already has a petition on his campaign website, blaming "a leftist-driven movement" that he claims "has spread misinformation about the law, threatened boycotts and fomented false rhetoric in the media and online."

(90,763 posts)The question we have to resolve is whether or not government is going to be used to punish people with a particular point of view, he said.
So it's OK to use government to create laws that discriminate but it's not OK for government to be against such laws.

(24,412 posts)These people seem to be single-mindedly driven to fight for discrimination. If only they put half as much effort into helping people as they do hurting people, this country would be a much better place for more people. And, also, why do they get to use taxpayer funds for these "special hate sessions"? I thought that special sessions used to be for emergency purposes, not ramming laws through that they didn't/couldn't pass during a normal session, overriding vetoes they don't like, etc. Of course, unless it's spelled out, I suppose they will say that they have the power to do it and that is probably true but it's sickening that people will likely go to the polls in the fall and re-elect damn near everybody anyway.
