Do you have anything else to do? I have been here 12 years and have about 4.000 posts and most of those are in sports.

(14,689 posts)Lots of posts consist simply of rec, one-line retorts, and obnoxious emoticons.
That being said, if someone is a member for 10 years, that's only 2000 posts a year. So about six posts a day. That's not a lot if you think about it.
DU'ers on a whole, tend to be older and have more time on their hands. There are some who just seem obsessed with the conflict and thrive off the back and forth.

(399 posts)I'm an empty nester now and checked in DU to read for a bit yesterday and wondered why people weren't spending time with their children - they should take a day off from trying to win the internet!

(1,033 posts)I'm not clear on how many posts one can make before others judge them to have nothing else to do.
You remind me of folks who point out that I had my eyes open during a prayer.

(34,200 posts)ah. I'm over 20K.
I'm a 10+ year member. I think I post in waves. I get ornery and start causing a fuss. Other times I lay low.

(24,541 posts)Why do you care? Do you honestly think none of us with over 20K posts have full lives that includes chatting on the internet with fellow democrats?

(77 posts)Obviously, you're concerned about the posters' welfare, but seriously, this is the funniest post I've read today.

(67,496 posts)Back then, being a liberal Democrat was a pretty lonely proposition. The conservatives were busy gloating and strutting and fretting their hour upon the stage, and the apolitical were saying things like: "Well, Bush is President now, so we just have to accept it." Even before the horror of 9/11, a lot of us were looking on-line for a sympathetic ear. I found DU through a link from an anti-Bush site, and knew at once I had found a home.
Since then, through the downs and the ups, I have stayed loyal to the DU community, and made some life-long friends here. And mourned the loss of a few of them, as well. I'm not a retiree, or a shut-in; I'm a Physician Assistant practicing clinical medicine in the community health setting. I have a pretty active social and cultural life. At work, I check DU if there is a lull between patients, and I spend an hour or two on DU every night after work. DU is part of my life.
