http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/shocking-moment-teacher-punches-autistic-7692090Anatoly Veltman, now 13-years-old, is reportedly too scared to go near the school building in New York and is now home-schooled after the attack two years ago.
He was eating his lunch at PS 225 in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, when he was attacked by 59-year-old Milton Parker....
The victim's dad, Anatoly Veltman Sr, told Eyewitness News: "My son, now even when we pass by the school, he runs away from me, he's afraid of the school building since what happened to him."

(20,234 posts)I knew it was on camera. If it was intentional, I would have taken him to another room and beaten the snot out of him.
What kind of teacher even thinks that way???

(26,355 posts)...you'd better know how to deal with meltdowns without going apeshit and punching a child.
Yes, that means you'll have to grow up and take a smack from an autistic kid without hitting back.

(115,681 posts)Block, back away, keep the other kids safe, restrain only if needed and with the least force possible.
A trained adult? Using reflexive hitting as an excuse? Pshaw.
Suck it up, get hit.

(65,616 posts)to a ruined life long before he punched the kid. WTF was he thinking? You never, ever strike a child!

(6,843 posts)He punched the teacher in the face. If he were not disabled, I am not sure I would feel the same way.

(65,616 posts)And I have the feeling many adults would have struck the kid in retaliation. Just as a teacher, you really want the very last thing you ever do is punch a student. Anything is better then that. Even if you get hurt. The guy is lucky not to be in jail.
Sounds like he burnt out on teaching a long time ago.

(2,300 posts)I know it's in poor taste to strike autistic children, but it sounds like a pretty crappy kid, what with the 50s style racism and punching people and everything.
Still. You can't just punch him. Even if you really want to.
