Ivanka Trump slams New York's 'onerous' registration rules
Ivanka Trump wont be voting for her father in New Yorks primary next Tuesday because of the states onerous rules, she said.
Both Ivanka, who identifies as an independent, and her brother Eric Trump reside in New York but missed the October deadline to register to vote in the April 19 primary.
Were not a family of politicians. We havent been in politics very long, Ivanka Trump told CNNs Anderson Cooper on Tuesday during a town hall with the Republican presidential front-runner and his family. New York has one of the most onerous rules in terms of registration, and it required us to register a long time ago almost close to a year ago and we didnt do that. We found out about it sort of after the fact.
Eric Trump echoed that sentiment and highlighted voter registration videos the real-estate moguls children have put out. It was our first kind of foray into politics, he said. We didnt realize how the whole system worked. It was amazing. We actually made it a very big part of the campaign and theres no one thats been more visible on the campaign than the two of us, but we made it a very big part to get that message out to register and vote. ....

(6,913 posts)Would have had to register almost a year ago? A month, a year, they're all the same when you're a Trump. It was a Yuge time ago.

(9,656 posts)you had to change party way back on oct 9th, so more than 6 months before voting
the ny primary seems to be all about insider control, certainly not growing the tent(for either party)

(42,568 posts)and look up the rules for registering to vote in all 50 states so you can pass that on to your supporters.*
*If you're really serious about runnin' for prezdent, do both of these things 1 1/2 to 2 years before the date of the general election.

(26,060 posts)she's had zero interest in voting in NY primaries before her daddy was running. Or this wouldn't be news to her (or anyone else).
