Interesting story. I suppose some will criticize the authors of the story, but the source of the information is not so hard to decry. Here is the basis of the story. Look up the rest yourselves if ya want.
"Sen. Bernie Sanders has proposed paying for his proposals to transform large sectors of the government and the economy mainly through increased taxes on wealthy Americans. A pair of new studies published Monday suggests Sanders would not come up with enough money using this approach, and that the poor and the middle class would have to pay more than Sanders has projected in order to fund his ideas.
The studies, published jointly by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center and the Urban Institute in Washington, concludes that Sanders's plans are short a total of more than $18 trillion over a decade. His programs would cost the federal government about $33 trillion over that period, almost all of which would go toward Sanders's proposed system of national health insurance. Yet the Democratic presidential candidate has put forward just $15 trillion in new taxes, the authors concluded".
So yes, Bernie would raise the taxes on every American, including those least able to pay more in taxes.

(3,557 posts)access to decent quality healthcare obviously should only be available to be those who can afford it. Expecting the government (which middle class Americans pay taxes for) to provide for its taxpayers is too much to expect.
If you can't afford healthcare then get a better job and if you can't get a better job, then obviously you're just lazy and you don't deserve to live. In America anyone can be rich if they are willing to work hard enough.
Fuck the poor! It's too expensive to take care of the those worthless eaters!! That's why Hillary Clinton and her corporate donors are getting my vote this election cycle
It's really quite simple. Just get a job as a wealthy CEO or a wealthy stock investor if you don't want to worry about your healthcare and retirement.

(4,769 posts)could pull it off and spend far less money than we do, as a whole and individually, but somehow it's impossible for us to do it.
Proganda and horse shit. Anyone who is trying to stop single payer from happening is no less evil than the assholes who fought the ACA. There are still about 30 to 35 thousand people a year dying from the lack or from the expense of health care...plus millions going into debt.
If you're okay with that, or especially if you are trying to keep things the same, you are an objectively evil person.
Go ahead and alert...what I said is true and all of you trying to stop single payer have the blood of those people on your hands. You make me fucking want to puke.
In fact you're worse than baggers. At least they didn't pretend to be altruistic. You people can add hypocrisy to your crimes.
It is indeed odd that so many others countries can do this and we somehow cannot?
