Few people know Nebraska’s quietest heir
— and he’s determined to keep it that way (1/4 mill 2 Jeb)

Fred Cunningham gave one of the largest-ever single political donations in state history, a cool $250,000, to Right to Rise, Jeb Bush’s super PAC.

Fred Cunningham lives in a nondescript farmhouse in Arthur, Nebraska. During this presidential election cycle, he gave $250,000 to Jeb Bush’s campaign, but he doesn’t want to talk about that. Or anything.

ARTHUR, Neb. — People here look at you funny when you ask about Fred Cunningham. When they do answer, they often mention the dog.

The dog’s name was Radar. He may have been the ugliest canine in the whole county. Fred loved him.

The bull terrier was not Fred’s, but rather served as a sort of unofficial mascot for the town of Arthur, population 117. He lounged out front of the saddle maker’s shop on Fir Street, accepted pats on the head from customers of the boot maker’s shop next door and the hat maker’s shop across the street. Sometimes ol’ Radar sauntered down to the Bunkhouse Bar and Grill, bellied up to the bar and happily lapped up a mug of whatever domestic beer the patrons decided to buy him that day.

The brand of beer didn’t matter. Radar was no snob.

FULL story at link.

Fred Cunningham paid for a tombstone in honor of a popular town dog named Radar, which rests in a pet cemetery in the northwest part of Arthur.
