Judge Gonzalo Curiel was assigned to the Trump lawsuit in 2013, long before Trump's public racism

Curiel is presiding over two class-action lawsuits filed against Trump over his now-defunct Trump University real estate seminars, for which some people paid up to $35,000.

One suit covers people who paid for Trump courses in Florida, California and New York. That case was filed in 2010, and is set for trial in November. Trump is expected to testify. The second suit, filed in 2013, is a civil racketeering allegation that covers all in the country who took a Trump University course.

Curiel is the third judge who has presided over the 2010 suit. He inherited it in early 2013, just a few months after he was sworn in to the federal bench.

At that time, the court record shows, Trump didn’t object to Curiel being assigned and didn’t ask him to recuse himself, a rare move in federal courts but not unheard of. In fact, a review of the nearly 700 docket entries lodged so far in both cases show no formal motion that questioned his impartiality or fairness.

Trump knew very well when he started his anti-Mexican slurs that some of the many lawsuits he was involved in were presided over by one (or more?) Hispanic judges. He decided to launch his candidacy based on bigotry, and now he's whining it prejudices the judge against him? What an idiot.

His fans love it and he knows it.

There are several layers of stupid but primarily that if he'd never went after the judge the media probably would have barely covered it. He pushed in to one of the top stories all so he could pander to his already believers.

I got the sense that Joe and Mika, trump's biggest cheer-leaders for months, were shouting, "We made you, Don D. Con; now, we're going to destroy you!"

The contempt they had in their voices was amazing.

The judge is in good standing and all their racist dog whistles have no affect.

and then claim that said action creates a conflict of interest for the judge. One of the Bundy gang tried something like this recently - I think he sued the judge and then claimed that the lawsuit created a conflict of interest for the judge. The judge said no way. I believe Trumpy's claim would fall into this same category.
