Turkish newspaper blames Germany for Istanbul bombing

http://theturkishsun.com/turkish-newspaper-gunes-blames-germany-for-istanbul-terror-attack-19987/

“The deep state of Germany could not stomach Turkey challenging it at the highest level. It panicked and started to repeat old habits. It created terror organizations that it uses as a tool to organize a bloody terror attack in İstanbul,” the front page said in quotes above the headline.

It also explained on the front page, “Lastly, it is believed that Germany, which has approved the so called Armenian genocide bill, organized the attack in İstanbul as a response to Turkey’s firm reaction to the bill”.

-------------

Germany panicking because Turkey throws a hissy-fit?
An old habit of creating terror-organizations?
Germany calling the killing of Armenians a genocide means that Germany is best buddies with the PKK???

But the newspaper Gunes is framing it nicely: "This is what Turkey thinks, this is what is believed..." They aren't claiming that they are reporting facts.

"Some people say... We are merely reporting what other people think... We report, you decide..."

And Gunes also claims that the pro-democracy Taksim-protests were really about preventing a third Istanbul-airport, so Turkey wouldn't suck the whole air-traffic from german airports.
(Which is a biiiiiiiiit of a stretch. It's about 2000km/1200miles from Istanbul to central Germany.)

If this war of words was to go on for a while, I suspect Turkey can look a long way to be connected to the EU anytime soon - and that the border between Turkey and the rest of EU might be more difficult to traverse than before - the same goes for visa, as everyone know that visa's can be rescinded - and that agreements between two nations can be rescinded too..

What have Germany to gain blowing up a police bus in Istanbul? - Nothing - And what have Germany to gain, pointing to facts, that the modern Turkey in the early 1920s, killed more than 1.5 million rather innocent Armenias, and also Drew away ten of thousands, if not hundres of thousands of people of greek origin, often by force and by murder in the middle of the winter - and who then renamed cities and towns by the dusins, to more turkey sounding cities - cities who for centuries, if not for a few thousands years had been dominated by greek and other minorities in Turkey - After all, what become Turkey later on, had for centuries been the heartland of the Byzantine empire - a greek empire.... Germany have nothing to gain out of it.. This is another of this "anger-tantrum" the turky leader have when he is not given what he want... And wil cost Turkey far more than they might belive in the long run...

Can you imagine the US saying sorry for dropping nukes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
Can you imagine the US apologizing to Iran for replacing their democracy with a dictator?
Or how about China is trying to cleanse the Tiananmen-massacre and the famines of the 1960s from collective memory.
Or how Russia is downplaying Stalin's atrocities as a necessity of wartime.

It's not that Turkey/US/China/Russia all of a sudden come to remember that embarassing past. They have always known about that, but they prefer to think about it in abstract, distanced ways.
Trivia in history-books.

Germany bringing up the Armenian genocide however is not a discussion about trivia. The rule was to not talk about this in public. And Germany, formerly close friend of Turkey, broke that trust by daring to bring it up.
* Abstract trivia suddenly became a personal accusation. In the history books, the genocide is associated with a Turkey that is no more. But by bringing it up today, the genocide gets associated with contemporary Turkey and thus with the country contemporary Turks feel attached to.
* And Germany destroyed the friendship by breaching the trust. Turkey had trusted Germany to never embarass Turkey. Germany was too straightforward and Turkey can't believe how someone can be so incredibly stupid and impolite to bring up inconvenient facts.

Imagine, your friend spilling the beans at a party: "Hey, Diclotican! Remember 10 years ago? When you were totally drunk and did this absolutely offensive thing? Remember? The thing that you did? Remember? You should come clean on this now."

Of course it is un comfortable to be told a few truth you knew about, but who you do not want to put out, as it is uncomfortable doing so.

For my drinking habit - last time I was drunk was more than 14 years ago - and I had fun that evening/night - Did nothing offensive, outside of making a few bad jokes, for some reason I tend to have some control over myself, even when drunk... At least I do not do anything really offensive - just sitting in the corner with a glass, and telling some bad jokes - before I go home.. And if anyone will confront me with my bad jokes when drunk, so be it - At least I can survive that - I know others who do a lot worse thing than making bad jokes when drunk..

One thing is to try to make be live a historical past who is different from the reality - and Turkey have for many years tried to make up the past, specially the last 100-110 years, after the end of the Ottoman Empire, who might be a little different than many in turkey be live.. After all - it is FORBIDDEN to tell about the killings of armenians in Turkey - if you do, you can get 10 years hard Lab our in prison doing so....
