Man admits he lied to FBI about violent plot against Muslims (SC)
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — ... William Tore Tint, 42, of Travelers Rest, was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Anderson. The judge sentenced Tint to three years’ probation.Tint pleaded guilty Sept. 14, 2015, to “making false statements to the FBI regarding a plan to commit a violent act against a person or property involving him and/or Robert Doggart.”
Evidence presented at Tint’s change of plea hearing showed that in April 2015, he “knowingly and willfully made a false, fraudulent, and fictitious material statement to FBI agents during their investigation of a possible plot to commit acts of violence in in New York State.”
In March, lawyers for The Muslims of America, Inc., or TMOA, filed a civil lawsuit against Tint; Robert Doggart, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; and nine other people, alleging the group planned to burn down a mosque, destroy a school and murder residents of the community of Islamberg, a small Muslim community in rural Delaware County in Upstate New York ...
