Trump Claimed Money He Got From Muammar Qadhafi Was All Given To Charity, No Evidence It Ever Was

When Donald Trump boasted in an interview aired on Sunday that he “made a lot of money” in a 2009 deal to rent a New York-area estate to Libya's then-dictator, Muammar Qadhafi, he did not specify what he did with that money.

But back in 2011, when pressed on the matter, Trump assured a reporter that the money had all gone to charity, a claim that POLITICO has been unable to verify and that his campaign is unwilling to confirm. The episode adds to a series of unverified or exaggerated claims of charitable giving that have been dogging the presumptive Republican nominee.
Story Continued Below

Last week, Trump excoriated reporters for scrutinizing his claims of charitable giving to veterans groups, made during a much-hyped fundraiser he held on the eve of the Iowa caucuses. Trump raised less than the $6 million figure he originally claimed, and much of the giving came only after he received inquiries from reporters.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have our next major Trump scandal. Reporters are finding more evidence of Trump's claimed philanthropy are all lies. There are now several instances where he claimed to have given millions to charities but actually kept the money raised for himself. The more people dig into his past, the more cartoonishly evil he becomes. Next we will find out he used kittens as kindling in his fireplace.

He will never recover. Once a candidate gets stuck in defensive mode for a prolonged period of time, it becomes a downward spiral that is difficult to get out of.

He's had a really tough week, & it doesn't seem to get any better anytime soon.

I'd hate to see him replaced because there is so much negative oppositional research on him that this fall will be kinda fun.

My son & I were talking tonight that if they did try to replace him at the convention, it would create chaos by thwarting the will of voters.

Of course it would be fun to watch Paul Ryan try to outrun the Trump supporting motorcycle gangs; ol' Mitch wouldn't stand a chance.
