Every time a mass shooting occurs in the United States, you can thank the Republican Party. Time and time and time again, these political goons have banded together against gun control. Not to protect the 2nd Amendment, as many right-wing gun nuts claim. No, they are beholden to the NRA and the gun industry.

Thousands of Americans are dead because keeping us vulnerable to gun violence is profitable. When shootings happen, gun sales skyrocket. The gun industry cleans up, but it has done nothing to make Americans safe from future tragedies. Nothing.

In the wake of the Orlando, Fla. mass shooting, conservatives flocked to social media to gloat. They’re ready to declare an “I told you so” victory aimed at non-whites and Muslims. Eager to claim liberals are working harder to make America less safe.

The problem with that logic is that we already know the exact opposite is true. Even worse, we now know that Republicans value a terrorist’s right to buy guns on American soil over the safety of every American man, woman, and child.
