(26,001 posts)There's no living -- even in the vestiges of a democracy -- with people like this.

(18,186 posts)They are led by a very angry Jesus here, who only loves pasty white male Republicans who have sex with their guns.
Beating wives and children is a sacrament, racism is a given, and 6 guys beating the fuck out of one guy are considered heroes, not cowards.
Bullies love bullies, and the Southern Jesus lurves him some Trumpy-pants.
Praise our violent, racist, misogynistic, homophobic, hate-filled lord, and pass the ammunition.
The South will rise agin' by golly!

(8,703 posts)and most of them are probably listening to Alex Jones and Rush. Years ago, I lived in Greensboro for a year. Thankful I live in NM - no confederate flags and I don't have to discuss the Civil War all day long.

(1,325 posts)Horrifying? Dangerous? Unhinged? Absolutely! Surprising? - not if you've been paying attention since - oh I don't know - 1980 maybe fpr as long as we've been a country? These are the people surrounding us in our cities and towns, the good ol' boys down at the coffee shop, the regular Joes and Bobs and their partners Linda and Cindy. The Army is chock full of these people and so are our churches. They are the un-silent minority and they're really pissed and can't wait for an excuse to implement martial law and start shooting people who violate the new curfew. And now they have their Pied Piper. And just as these people hated Obama from the get-go, should Hillary win the election, we will be subjected to much more of the same. Except for one major difference - these people have been hating Hillary for decades thanks to Rush and Fox and the other hate-mongers who have been spilling their vile invective day after day after day for years on end. I know so many people (especially my Army friends) who truly hate democrats, especially Hillary, and yet they really cannot explain why?

(9,895 posts)The depth of hate and violence and bigotry is stunning.
The tweet detailing a young child being spanked for asking for a banana split?
Jesus Fucking Christ...I would have lost it right there.
No child deserves that kind of amoral asshat for a dad, NOT ONE EVER.
Childhood is where empathy should be nurtured and protected, where quality parents teach their children that the greatest achievements in life do not have price tags nor are they built on the shattered dreams of others but on the amount of good you can do in the lives of those around you.
There MUST be some people left in the Republican Party that know this must end, that they need to split off from the madness and if Hillary is an ideological bridge too far for them, then find a 3rd party or boycott in protest, anything but voting for the hideous Orange Troll.
Those tweets are haunting. Trump speeches are incoherent urgings to stoke anger and hate and division. That is no basis for a political campaign, that is incitement to riot.
I don't feel any better now, after writing this, and that's starting to scare me. Usually venting about this makes it seem lower volume and less urgent...not tonight.

(32,701 posts)The fox theater downtown. That's a classy venue-- doesn't seem appropriate for a rally. And it's a little shocking that he'd come to such a diverse, blue city with so many college students, people of color, etc.
A few months ago, I might have protested, but he's attracting so much hate that I don't think it's safe to be anywhere near the vicinity.
