House came back at 10pm et. Despite Democratic objections to hold any vote, Speaker Ryan held a vote and 2/3 majority needed to override the veto was not reached. The Republicans then went into recess and left.

(82,849 posts)The bill was the Be Kind to Swindlers Act of 2016 (note: may not be actual title of act), which was designed to overturn the recent financial regulation that investment advisers had to recommend choices with their clients' best interests in mind, not the investments that kicked back the best rewards to the adviser. The vote failed miserably, as everyone well knew it would.
That's what the Republicans and Speaker Ryan thought was more important than citizen lives: The unfettered right of financial advisers to rip off their clients.
