Texas Cop Won’t Face Charges For Roughing Up Black Teenage Girl

A grand jury in Collin County, Texas has decided not to indict Eric Casebolt, the former McKinney police officer who was caught on video roughing up a black teenage girl last summer while responding to a report of a disturbance at a community pool.

The video shows white cops detaining, handcuffing and, at one point, physically holding down black teenagers at a neighborhood pool. At one point, Casebolt grabs a bikini-clad black teenage girl by the hair and wrestles her to the ground. He later sits on her in an apparent effort to prevent her from getting up.

Casebolt resigned from the police department shortly after video of the incident went viral last year, but thanks to Thursday’s decision, he won’t face any criminal charges. Teens at the pool party told BuzzFeed that cops were called after adults at the pool made racist comments, telling them to leave and return to “Section 8 [public] housing.” The teen shown being roughed up, Dajerria Becton, told BuzzFeed that Casebolt’s actions hurt her back.

“Him getting fired is not enough,” she said.
