I'd have to be in for serious time and up for special punishment to go anywhere now.

not as hot today, but humid. Typical summer in coastal SC!

They are either being hidden by someone or have stolen a car and headed out. There's no way to even hang around those 2 lane roads and KFCs for more than a few hours without being seen.

After church today 80% of the local population will be on the lookout.

Alligators shy away from an adult sized target, and unless you step on one, snakes aren't going to advertise their presence.

The bugs? I've never seen a confirmed instance of someone getting drained dry by mosquitoes, but that's probably because the coroner didn't want to put "exsanguination due to vampire bugs" on the cause of death form.

They are the state bird in many areas.

at any rate, they will likely be caught as soon as someone sees them. Everyone knows everyone in those small towns. There aren't a lot of places to hide unless they make it to Charleston.

It is crazy to escape for such minor crimes.

If the gator and pit vipers don't get them, the skeeters/gnats/chiggers will suck them dry or the mud will drown them.
