My air conditioner is broken.
It is working just enough to keep the temperature down but it will probably blow up in heat of the day.
Calling emergency maintenance ASAP.

(6,699 posts)Played poker machines for probably 35 years. NEVER got a royal.
Brought my fiance' up from Mexico and stopped in Vegas to show her the beautiful casinos. Hit my first 25 cent royal for $1000.
Got married and her resident card and drove back through Vegas. After breakfast it happened again. Hit another 25 cent royal, after playing maybe $20. Another $1000.
Took her to Reno a few years ago, and I'll be damned if we didn't hit the third royal on a 25 cent macine....the first hour or two at the Peppermill.
I cant get her to return to Vegas or Reno because we have a damned dog. I've gone back to Reno once or twice and have not hit a royal since.
35 years with nada. Three trips with my lady, and I score everytime. Nothing since. True story...no bull.
An amazing "good luck charm", eh!

(32,723 posts)It's usually $5 and sometimes I slam it all through at once.
Last week I got 3 5s on the draw and picked up the 4th 5 for an instant $250.

(25,456 posts)But it's been in the nineties and humid, my apartment is like a sauna in the afternoons. Every year the husband and I discuss buying an air conditioner and every year decide against it -- we now refer to air conditioning as "you-know-what." I stubbornly refuse to give in and use you-know-what until I'm in poor health and older; I can suffer a little until then. It's like environmental Lent. I don't realize how hot it is until I go inside a building, like the supermarket, where they really crank up the you-know-what. I loiter until I feel nice and cool, but outside the thick wet heat punches you in the face and you look around, dazed, and begin to sweat again.

(17,111 posts)I have bitched about this a/c for a while. It's older than fire. I knew this was gonna happen soon. I don't mind them trying to hold costs down and they have replaced stuff before. However, they have really pushed the limit with this unit.
They were warned. If they push me, I'll put Tater and Moonpie in their carriers and go sit in their offices. I may have to if it stays this hot.

(34,136 posts)One time when I was in college the power went off in my neighborhood while I was in class. I got home to find my house trailer like an oven and all my cats were suffering from the heat. I gather the limp, over heated kittehs, put them in the bath tub and turned the shower on with full cold (yeah, cold - it was about 85 F water ).
Cats that normally would have screamed and run from water, laid in the tub and enjoyed the cooler temperature of the water flowing over their overheated bodies. They voluntarily stayed in the tub until the power came back and the air conditioner brought the temperatures down to a bearable level. Until then, I would run the water over them every few minutes.

(34,582 posts)and the AC was old when we bought the house. I have 6 more house payments and I'm done. I am hoping my luck maintains. In May I thought for sure I was sunk. I was at work and the wife calls and said the AC wasn't cooling the house. Luckily it was just a seized motor for the fan on the outside condenser. It was only $70, but it was after 5 PM and had to wait until the next morning. Luckily, after I got home, it started to rain, so the window unit I took out of the mother in law suite kept things bearable.

(17,111 posts)There is one who acts like I am a fool. I am not a fool when it comes to this.
There is something wrong. They are going ro replace the motor for the fan and work on the coolant or whatever.
I don't know why they think I am making this shite up.
