You lay down with your hands up and you STILL get shot by the cop?

I'm now completely dumbfounded as to what to do to keep from getting shot by a cop. Complying with their command to get your ID doesn't work 100%. Now, laying flat on the ground with arms held clearly high and outstretched doesn't work 100% either.

This shit is getting crazy.

To me, this points out that some of this police violence could be alleviated by better training. I am not defending this policeman in any way. But I've heard enough of these stories that it's becoming abundantly clear these officers are not highly trained. They overreact in some situations. They don't go through all the scenarios. They clearly can't recognize autism in this case, which is absurd.

We've got to invest more into training our police force.

It requires ZERO training to understand that you don't need to shoot a person that appears UNARMED and is NOT within physical reach of you.

If you have to be told not to shoot a helpless and compliant innocent man, then you're simply not qualified to be a cop. Or to interact with human beings under any circumstances, in fact.

I have no idea on the background of the policeman and I am not defending his use of force; I think it's ridiculous, but I would like to know why he said "I don't know".

This man better not have to pay one single cent for his treatment. Not even a penny for his copay.

Let the Police Union open their wallets. When the 99 good apples have to start paying for the one bad apple they will "self police" and start demanding that only competent people be allowed to work with them.

I'm pretty sure he'll be compensated, and I hope well.

However, it can never make up for being SHOT IN THE FUCKING LEG! Or SHOT AT ALL.

Every day I see "friends" on Facebook with their scolding messages telling people that they'll be fine if they're respectful and they follow the cops' instructions. Well I don't see how the fuck this poor guy could have been more compliant, and if he'd lay face-down then they probably would have shot him in the back.

I hope that he and his kids and his grandkids never have to work a day in their lives after this.

What utter bullshit.
