GOP Prepared To Stop Government Indefinitely Even If Hillary Wins.

As long as GOP does not have full power, they will not allow the country to move forward indefinitely. They are making it clear that they will get their way one way or another. Sadly GOPPERS are not willing to compromise on anything. The ZIKA funding is the best example of what is going on.

The fact that they won't pass any funding unless they get their way means they do not care how far ZIKA spreads or how many lives are ruined, that is the price you pay for stopping their agenda. They believe in being bipartisan as long as you pass ALL of their initiatives no matter how terrible they are.

And the ZIKA virus issue is just the beginning. It is no on everything. They are proving how dangerous they are.

To vote Democratic across the board.

We welcome all good Republicans who
are tired of their party's nonsense and
incompetence.

Gerrymandering's weakness is that a large voter margin can overcome it. Since they put all Dems in one group and then make the others slightly favor Repubs, this is the chance to break it. We need to take a few more districts and now it the time. I don't think we get as big a chance as have now, not for another decade.

older white conservatives

The demographics will change, all in concentrated spots, as
a younger generation replaces them. When their kids move away, or
have modern ideas, or just don't support Trump, there is political
opportunity.

This may be the time.

Winning state Legislatures is important to combat gerrymandering. Every time one is won, use the opportunity to put districting into the hands of independent commissions, permanently.

Seek federal legislation, like a Voting Rights Act, to mandate independent districting.

Let's not be negative. Identify problems, generate solutions, and avoid defeatist binary thinking that says "impossible".

no doubt democrats will retake the senate and senate rules can be changed on the use of the filibuster which forces all legislation to have 60 votes, not 51....

republicans wont be able to obstruct in the same manner

to keep federal funds from reaching the districts of those congress critters. No farm subsidies for you, no military bases for you. The old fashioned Republicans were about compromise, give and take. Why not now? Disney will have to close without folks willing to travel to Orlando. Florida depends on tourist taxes to keep the state afloat. The Supreme court will have to rule all of their redistricting plans unconstitutional and force redistricting.

Will be terrible no doubt. But none of us will be immune from the economic toll this will wreak on the economy. The GOP is willing to let this happen. And they STILL want to do away with Obamacare at a time will the country may be swallowed up by this devastating epidemic. You think health insurance premiums are too high now. Wait til the hospitals are flooded with Zika victims. Where are the communities going to find the money it takes to control and eradicate the host?

For a very short time after Al Franken's delayed confirmation and before Ted Kennedy's passing, the Democrats had the votes to pass legislation or confirm nominees. It shouldn't take 60 senators to pass common sense funding to prevent a public health crisis, but that's where we are.

And they would happily blame Zika on immigrants or minorities or poor people or something and claim the CDC is too socialist to help.

....but I bet he knows first hand that the current version of republican leadership (last couple of decades) represents much of what's wrong with our country on almost every issue. They are responsible for not only harmful direct action legislatively (or inaction) but also for politically pulling the country to the right through deception, lies, fear, polarization, and hate.

Doesn't have to be this way. Didn't used to be this way. Now...it is.
