‘He would be a poor, even dangerous, commander in chief’

A possible President Donald Trump would wreak havoc on national security, a former CIA boss says.

Michael Morell — a 33-year CIA veteran who was twice the agency’s acting director by President Obama — endorsed Hillary Clinton Friday in a scathing, anti-Trump op-ed in the New York Times.

“Donald J. Trump is not only unqualified for the job, but he may well pose a threat to our national security,” he wrote. “Mr. Trump has no experience on national security. Even more important, the character traits he has exhibited during the primary season suggest he would be a poor, even dangerous, commander in chief.”

Morell, who is not registered a Republican or a Democrat and has long kept his political preferences private, said Trump’s relationship with Russia has already proved this point.
